New cored holes are drilled through an existing concrete wall while avoiding existing reinforcing steel. Nondestructive testing is required to locate existing reinforcing bars prior to coring. Cored holes require a minimum clearance of three times the larger diameter from each other and a typical two-inch clearance from reinforcing. All cored hole locations must be reviewed and approved by the structural engineer of record prior to coring work.
