The supported steel beam frames into a supporting steel beam via a seated connection. The supported beam features a bottom flange cope sized per plan with a slot for the beam web, maintaining a minimum one-half beam depth of six inches. A seat plate welded to the supporting beam receives the supported beam bottom flange. Three-eighths inch stiffener plates are provided on both sides centered at the web of the supported beam, and three-eighths inch stiffener plates are welded to the support beam web. Connection is secured using seven-eighths inch diameter A325N bolts on beam gages, with one near-side and one far-side bolt. Fillet welds of one-quarter inch size are applied on three sides typically.
