A steel beam connects to an existing steel column with three-quarter-inch thick connection plates. Five-eighths-inch thick stiffener plates are welded to both sides of the column using three-eighths-inch fillet welds. The connection utilizes two rows of one-inch diameter A325 bearing-type-X bolts spaced at three-inch intervals, with edge and end distances specified on the drawing. The steel beam sizes are sized per the framing plan and the steel column is sized per the foundation plan.
