Buckling-restrained braces frame into the web of a steel column, with diagonal braces positioned both above and below the intersecting floor beam. The gusset plates feature a cope with a one-half inch radius at the flange and are secured with complete joint penetration welds on three sides typically. One-half inch minimum stiffener plates matching the column flange are provided at locations where forces transfer into the assembly. Continuity plates are welded to the column web on three sides typically to handle concentrated forces from the connection. A beam stub per detail S-613 and a beam per plan frame into the column web alongside the gusset assemblies.
