A davit socket pedestal is welded to a structural steel beam intersection, supported by a 3/4-inch by 12-inch square minimum pedestal plate. The connection is reinforced with three-eighths-inch stiffener plates on each side of the beam web, secured with one-quarter-inch fillet welds typically at the stiffener plates. Additional one-half-inch by four-inch plates are provided on each side, attached with one-quarter-inch fillet welds to the flanges and webs. A three-eighths-inch weld connects the davit to the beam flanges as detailed.
