An angle measuring 1 3/4 inches by 1 3/4 inches by 1/4 inch is placed on top of the steel deck spanning across cut webs adjacent to a floor or roof opening. The reinforcing angle must extend three webs past the opening typically on each side. Connections are made using a one-eighth-inch by one-half-inch weld adjacent to each cut web typically. As an alternate to welding, one number 10 screw through the angle with a pre-drilled hole from the top or a self-drilling screw installed from below is used typically at each cut web.
