A W14 steel column base connection is supported by a concrete footing. The assembly features a 16x16x1-1/4 inch base plate welded to the column with a 5/16 inch fillet weld and secured by four 1-1/4 inch diameter anchor rods with an 18 inch embedment length. Each anchor rod includes a 3 inch square by 3/8 inch thick plate washer at the embedded end. Non-shrink grout is placed beneath the base plate, and a block out is provided around the column per the elevation plan. A 2 inch diameter maximum vent hole is centered in the base plate.
