An HSS6x6x3/8 hollow structural section member with a cap plate extends from a wide flange steel beam to an HSS6x6 column. A kicker brace connects to the wide flange beam per typical detail requirements. Connection angles measuring L4x4x5/16 are fastened to each side of the HSS using half-inch diameter through-bolts in a vertical laminated strand lumber element. A quarter-inch fillet weld is applied on three sides at the connection to the wide flange beam web.
