A wood nailer matching the beam flange width is anchored to a structural steel beam using seven-eighth-inch diameter welded threaded rods spaced at sixteen inches on center in a staggered configuration. The rods are countersunk into the nailer with a maximum depth of three-quarters of an inch. One rod is placed a maximum of nine inches from each end of the nailer and from each splice. Two rows of bolting are used at bolt nail spacing, requiring four lines where bolts are staggered and six lines where three lines of nailing are required.
