A hollow structural section column bears on a one-half-inch base plate sized to match the beam width, secured with bolts. A wide flange beam supports the assembly, detailed per plan. Three-eighths-inch full-depth stiffener plates are welded to each side, with plate widths matching the girder flange width. Five-sixteenths-inch fillet welds secure the connection on three sides.
