Cold-formed steel joist framing connects to a perimeter J-track support at a rated soffit assembly. The assembly incorporates a four-inch by twenty-gauge J-track with number eight screws at each drop stud, alongside three number eight screws spaced at twenty-four inches on center to the drop studs. Framing members are sized per section with a track per section and joist per section. Gypsum wallboard finishes consist of a maximum of two layers of GWB on the vertical face and a maximum of three layers of GWB on the soffit underside.
