An eight-inch concrete masonry unit wall is supported by a concrete footing and slab-on-grade. The masonry wall contains number five vertical reinforcing bars at sixteen inches on center and number four horizontal bars at twenty-four inches on center, reinforced at the top by two number four bars. Number five dowels with alternating hooks extend from the footing into the masonry wall with a forty-eight bar diameter lap splice. The concrete footing is one foot six inches wide and ten inches deep below the slab, reinforced with two continuous bottom number five bars. A stud wall bears on top of the masonry wall, and typical slab reinforcement is sized per plan.
