This construction joint detail for a concrete slab features a keyed interface with a depth equal to one-half of the slab thickness. All slab reinforcement continues uninterrupted through the joint. The joint layout specifies a maximum spacing of thirty inches with a six-inch minimum edge distance. Alternatively, the entire joint surface may be intentionally roughened at the contractor's option.
