A hollow structural section post connects below a steel beam supporting a concrete on metal deck assembly. A five-sixteenths by four by four inch plate is welded to each side of the hollow structural section post with three-sixteenths inch fillet welds. A seven-eighths inch diameter through bolt in a vertical long slotted hole centers the connection on the plate and secures it to a bent plate. A one-half inch clearance is maintained between the top of the hollow structural section post and the underside of the concrete deck.
