A structural steel beam connects to a supporting column using an L4x4x1/4 by zero-foot-nine-inch angle set with a one-half-inch gap. Two five-eighths-inch diameter ASTM A325-N bolts fasten the angle to the beam flange at the usual beam gauge with short slotted horizontal holes in the angle and standard holes in the beam. Two five-eighths-inch diameter ASTM A325-N bolts secure the angle to the column flange at the usual column gauge with short slotted vertical holes in the angle and standard holes in the column. Intersecting beams are omitted from the view for clarity.
