The assembly details welded stiffener plates and continuity plates fitted to structural steel column webs and between column flanges. Main stiffener plate thickness is sized per the connection schedule with a half-inch minimum, while continuity plate thickness is sized to flange thickness plus one-eighth inch minimum. Fillet welds are specified at five-sixteenths inch for thicknesses under one and one-quarter inches and seven-sixteenths inch for thicknesses under two inches. Copied corner clips on plates accommodate the internal flange-to-web fillets of the wide-flange shape.
