A structural steel column rests on a steel base plate set upon a two-inch non-shrink grout layer atop a concrete footing. A buckling-restrained brace connects via a gusset plate welded to the column, with the gusset and attachment design provided by the brace supplier. Anchor bolts secure the base plate and extend down to a lower embedded plate with C-shaped perimeter reinforcing bars that span between the top and bottom mats of the footing reinforcement. A shear lug matching the column size extends downward into a grout pocket within the footing. A blockout is provided around the column base, and footing reinforcement is detailed with standard hooks where it interferes with the blockout.
