A spreader beam connects to a hollow structural section framing member using quarter-inch thick side plates on each side. Two three-quarter inch diameter through-bolts pass through horizontal short slotted holes to secure the assembly, maintaining a maximum one-half inch gap. Three-sixteenth inch typical fillet welds complete the structural connection below the slab level.
