A concrete slab on grade sits atop a vapor barrier and a leveling course of fine-grained aggregate. The underlying open-graded base course consists of sandy gravel, crushed rock, or another approved material, with its thickness increased as required by the geotechnical engineer. The base course is compacted to ninety-five percent relative compaction over undisturbed soil.
