A steel column connects to a steel beam flange using a three-quarter-inch base plate secured with four three-quarter-inch diameter thru-bolts on the beam gage. Three-eighth-inch steel stiffener plates are welded to each side of the beam web beneath the column footprint using one-quarter-inch fillet welds on three sides typical. Concrete over metal deck is omitted for clarity.
