An eight-inch concrete retaining wall connects to a continuous concrete footing sized per plan, with reinforcing bars extending into the footing. A concrete slab on grade ties into the wall via number four slab dowels measuring twenty-four inches by twenty-four inches spaced at eighteen inches on center. The wall contains number five vertical reinforcing bars centered at fourteen inches on center each way with alternate bend hooked dowels. A handrail mounts to the top of the wall where specified by architectural drawings.
