A supported steel beam connects to a supporting steel beam web using a bolted shear plate connection reinforced with a supplementary plate. Beam sizes and connection types are specified per the structural framing plan. The shear plate is welded to the supporting member using a five-sixteenths inch fillet weld with a field weld indicator. High-strength bolts secure the supported beam web to the shear plate assembly.
