This concrete masonry unit wall control joint incorporates a continuous pre-formed plastic control joint centered between adjacent block cells. Vertical reinforcement is placed in each cell adjacent to the control joint. Horizontal reinforcement is discontinuous at the joint except at the top of the wall where reinforcement runs through the joint. Hairpin reinforcement is installed per typical detail S1.21. Mortar is raked out one and a half inches minimum on each face with sealant and backing rod applied on each side.
