An HSS6x6 hollow structural section guiderail post supports a wide-flange or HSS beam sized per plan, which in turn carries a steel deck. A one-inch vertical clearance is maintained between the top of the HSS post and the underside of the beam flange. A bent plate measuring 1/4 inch by 6 inches by length as required is welded to each side of the HSS post with typical three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds. The assembly incorporates a three-quarter-inch diameter through-bolt in vertical long slotted holes, secured finger-tight with spoiled threads to allow vertical movement.
