A structural steel beam connects to a vertical post sized per plan with three-eighths by four by four inch plates welded at the top and bottom. A one-quarter inch fillet weld secures the beam to the post connection plates on the near and far sides. Additional complete penetration welds anchor the plates to the post and beam assemblies.
