An HSS 6x4 elevator separator beam connects to a supporting steel framing member using an L8x6x1/2 angle cut to fit. A three-sixteenths inch fillet weld secures the angle to the supporting steel member, while a one-quarter inch fillet weld connects the HSS beam to the angle. Minimum two-inch clearances are maintained at the top and end of the beam unless noted otherwise. A three-inch minimum dimension establishes the setback from the structural grid line.
