A continuous wide flange beam connects to a supporting column with a welded connection sized per the American Institute of Steel Construction specifications. A one-half-inch stiffener plate is welded to each side of the beam web at the column support. The assembly shows alternative conditions for a wide flange column and a hollow structural section column sized per plan.
