A bolted end plate connection joins a hollow structural section member to a steel beam per plan. A one-half-inch end plate is welded to the hollow structural section using three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds and connected to the steel beam web with seven-eighth-inch diameter A325 bolts. The bolt count varies based on the hollow structural section depth, requiring six bolts for depths under fourteen inches, eight bolts for depths of sixteen inches, and twelve bolts for depths of twenty inches. One-half-inch stiffener plates are welded to the connection plate using five-sixteenth-inch fillet welds on three sides.
