Trench excavation runs parallel to building foundations requiring a minimum ten foot width and a one foot six inch clearance from the footing edge. The bottom of the trench excavation shall not extend below the sloped plane defined by a two to one ratio. Backfill must be placed per the soils report specifications. The contractor remains responsible for shoring, sheathing, and maintaining excavation sides to prevent cave-ins until backfill is completed.
