The assembly consists of a steel beam supported by a column via a three-quarter-inch by eight-inch by one-foot eleven-inch cap plate. The beam is secured to the cap plate using two three-quarter-inch diameter bolts spaced at five inches on center. A full-height three-eighths-inch stiffener plate is centered on the column axis and welded to the beam web with a three-eighths-inch fillet weld. The column is sized per plan and capped to provide a bearing surface for the beam flange.
