A hollow structural section column stub connects to a wide-flange beam below using complete joint penetration welds and bolted end plates. Two 1-1/4-inch Grade 50 plates form the bolted connection secured by four 7/8-inch diameter A325 bolts. Stiffener plates extend to the end of the flange plates and match the beam flange thickness. Complete joint penetration welds attach the column and plates, with additional connections sized per plan.
