Two conditions for continuous concrete slab pours comprise a construction joint and a control joint. The construction joint features a keyed joint interface where the first and second pours meet, with the slab edge painted with a bond breaker before the second pour. Continuous dowels match the slab reinforcing size and spacing with one end greased for movement, supplemented by a minimum of one continuous reinforcing bar on each side of the joint. The control joint incorporates a sawn cut within twelve hours of placing concrete to a depth of twenty-five percent of the slab thickness. Both joint types require continuous bars on both sides sized per plan.
