A built-up channel stair stringer connects to a hollow structural section member designated as HSS10x6x1/2, which frames into a glulam column supporting a cross-laminated timber deck. The steel connection utilizes a ten-inch square by one-half-inch thick plate secured to the glulam column with six SDCP22858 screws. Two one-half-inch plates join the steel members using six one-half-inch diameter A307 bolts. A one-quarter-inch strap ties the assembly to the hollow structural section with a one-quarter-inch fillet weld and fastens into the cross-laminated timber deck with screws or nails. The cross-laminated timber deck is notched around the hollow structural section to accommodate the framing.
