A davit socket pedestal is mounted atop a structural steel beam, which frames into a steel column with a bolted connection. A 1/2-inch by 4-inch plate matching the beam width plus one inch is welded to the beam flanges with quarter-inch fillet welds. Three-eighths-inch stiffener plates are welded to each side of the column web aligned with the beam web.
