A plate of thickness tp connects across the wide-flange column web, welded with complete joint penetration welds to the column flanges. The plate is positioned maintaining a minimum one-and-a-half-inch offset and coordinated with the column K dimension and K1 maximum one-half-inch clearance. The web connection utilizes a 0.75tp weld size configuration relative to the centerline of the column.
