Ledger angles are welded to supporting steel beams at varying vertical distances from the top of steel. Detail A features a ledger angle located above the beam top of steel with a one-quarter-inch thick stiffener plate welded to the top flange at forty-eight inches on center when dimension A is one inch or less, using three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds on two sides. Detail B features a ledger angle six inches or less below the beam top of steel with a one-quarter-inch thick gusset plate provided at forty-eight inches on center when flange thickness is one-half inch or less. Details C and D position ledger angles six inches or greater below the beam top of steel with continuous or spaced fillet welds as indicated. Steel deck and concrete fill are omitted for clarity.
