An embed angle is installed at the edge of a concrete slab for elevator and stair openings, shown in both notched and flush edge conditions. An L6x4x1/4 structural steel angle with long leg vertical is anchored into the concrete using one-half-inch diameter by six-inch welded headed studs spaced at eighteen inches on center and six inches from each end. Additional number four top and bottom reinforcing bars extend twenty-four past the embed with standard hooks provided at the slab edge. The notched slab condition features additional number three hairpins spaced at twelve inches on center with a maximum one-and-a-half-inch notch and five-inch minimum thickness. The embed angle is discontinued at post-tensioned anchor locations per drawing notes.
