A wide flange column or hollow structural section / pipe column is supported by a wide flange beam per plan. The column base plate matches the beam flange thickness with a five-eighths inch minimum and extends one-half inch wider than the beam flange or column. Four three-quarter inch diameter ASTM A307 bolts secure the connection typically, unless noted otherwise. One and one-half inch stiffener plates on each side match the beam web thickness with a three-eighths inch minimum. Fillet welds are sized at one-quarter inch on three sides typically.
