A structural steel knife plate and shear plate connection provides jamb reinforcing at a tilt-up panel return wall. The assembly features a five-eighths inch by eight-inch plate with a yield strength of fifty kilopounds per square inch welded typically on three sides. Shear plates ranging from five-eighths to seven-eighths inch in thickness connect the framing members with bolts spaced at a two-inch typical dimension. A one-half inch fillet weld secures components on both sides of the column with a twelve-inch minimum clearance. Additional plates per detail two-twenty and variable weld sizes are specified according to the exact location designation.
