A concrete backwall or approach slab is protected at the corner by a three-eighths-inch by thirteen-inch wide armor plate running the full length of the waterproofing. The armor plate is secured with half-inch diameter galvanized bolts with washers installed in long slotted holes spaced at one foot six inches on center, engaging threaded inserts embedded in the concrete. A twenty-four-inch wide by zero point zero six zero-inch thick butyl rubber membrane or ethylene propylene diene monomer waterproofing is centered along the axis of the corner beneath the protective layers.
