Cold-formed steel studs align end-to-end with a maximum one-quarter-inch joint clearance at the splice centerline. An internal stud track insert, matched in size and gauge to the main framing members, spans one foot across the joint. Three number ten self-tapping screws fasten each flange of the track on each side of the splice.
