Steel roof deck openings are framed with C8x11.5 channels spanning between wide flange beams and trimmed with C6x10.5 channel jambs. A 12'-0" maximum opening span is accommodated, with C6x10.5 channels omitted when the opening edge is within 6" of the beam flange. Smaller roof deck openings between 6" and 12" square or diameter are reinforced with L 1 3/4x1 3/4x1/4 angles placed below the deck, extending three deck webs past the end of the opening on each side. A 1/8 fillet weld attaches the reinforcing angles adjacent to each cut web and at the center of each upper flute beyond the opening.
