A one-half inch thick cap plate connects to the top of the steel column with five-sixteenth inch welds to the inside face of the flange typically unless otherwise noted. Stiffener plates sized per details at the right weld to the column web and flanges. The beam frames into the column connection per details shown to the right with five-sixteenth inch fillet welds.
