Demolition sequence and edge preparation for creating a new rough opening in an existing reinforced concrete or masonry wall containing an embedded steel column. The existing horizontal reinforcement is cut and treated with an approved epoxy coating. The final rough opening extends six inches beyond the rough opening edge to accommodate new jamb reinforcement. The existing vertical reinforcement and hoops surround the embedded structural steel column.
