A chord angle splice connection utilizes a bent plate splice bar centred over a one-quarter-inch maximum gap. The bent plate must have its axis perpendicular to the direction of rolling and must not use flat bar, with an inside radius equal to two times the plate thickness. A one-quarter-inch continuous fillet weld runs along the full length of the splice bar as indicated by the weld symbol. The assembly is fabricated from CSA G40.21 44W steel and corresponds to a schedule of specific angle and bent plate sizes, such as L 3x3x1/4 angles paired with 4x3/8x1'-1" bent plates.
