Two wide flange steel beams meet at a seismic expansion joint using a continuous plate with a polytetrafluoroethylene surface sliding bearing pad. A bridge upturned wide flange beam connects via an erection bolt as required and a three-eighths by four-inch by six-foot plate welded with one-quarter-inch fillet welds featuring three-inch minimum returns top and bottom on two sides. A deck edge angle connects to the coped flange of the wide flange beam as referenced on plan.
