Stiffener plates and continuity plates are welded to a structural steel beam or column flange and web assembly. The continuity plate thickness is sized per the flange thickness plus one-eighth inch minimum, with fillet weld sizes specified as five-eighths of the continuity plate thickness. Welds are applied to three sides of the plates per the project notes.
