Hollow structural section posts span between multiple floor levels with welded base plates and slotted angle connections. The posts are constructed from HSS8x tubes positioned as specified on plan, welded to base plates with quarter-inch fillet welds and provided with block-outs for welding. At the intermediate and upper levels, connections utilize L6x4x5/16 and L6x4x3/8 angles welded to the beams with three-quarter-inch machine bolts and through-bolts featuring two-inch vertical slotted holes to accommodate movement. Half-inch stiffener plates are provided under the posts at floor levels, and the lowest post base is anchored to a half-inch by 12-inch by 14-inch base plate with four three-quarter-inch high-strength bolts.
