A concrete slab construction joint reinforced with smooth steel dowels measuring three-quarters of an inch in diameter by one foot four inches long spaced at one foot on center, with one end painted and greased to allow lateral movement. A four-inch capillary water barrier is positioned beneath the slab along with a vapor barrier. The joint incorporates a formed profile sealed to a width of one-eighth to one-quarter of an inch, maintaining minimum clearances relative to the overall slab thickness H.
