The shaded regions of the buckling restrained brace assembly define the protected zones, which encompass the steel core and connection elements. These zones must comply with the requirements of Section 7.4 of AISC 341-14. Any attachments that penetrate the casing, such as screws or powder-actuated fasteners, or any attachment supporting over 50 pounds, require approval from the engineer of record and the buckling restrained brace manufacturer.
